BOTSWANA stands today, without exception, as a living legend in the Straight Egyptian community—on a world-wide basis. Over the twenty years of his life he has more than earned that title, and—if his 2018 foal crop to date is any example—Botswana is continuing to add to his legend at a time in his life when most stallions begin to fade from the spotlight.
Botswana was Champion SE Futurity Colt (out of 25 colts) as a yearling at the Event, and Supreme Champion Stallion at the 2009 Egyptian Event (the same year he was also the Leading Halter and Performance Sire). Botswana remained for 8 consecutive years (from 2007 until 2015) the leading Halter and Performance Sire at the EE. He regained that title in 2016—and remains today the standing Leading Overall Straight Egyptian Sire. At 20 years old (a time when many stallions experience diminishing popularity) Botswana seems to be more popular than ever—with not only Straight Egyptian breeders but, increasingly, with other purebred Arabian breeders looking for extreme desert type.
Botswana foals have to date won numerous Egyptian Event Championships—plus National, Regional, Class A, and International Championships—giving their sire an astounding 68% “winning get ratio.” He has sired nine (9) EBC winners at the annual Egyptian Event. Plus, his daughters have become prized broodmares, producing exceptional champion get both here in the US and abroad.
Extremely prepotent, Botswana has demonstrated, as the sire of over 210 foals, that he consistently sires extreme type, correct bodies and legs, high natural tail carriage—and beautiful heads with large lustrous eyes. Moreover, his foals are, like their sire, incredibly smart—and willing students in both halter and performance disciplines.
Botswana is SCID, CA and LFS clear, and does not sire sclera, off-set tails, parrot mouths, or juvenile epilepsy.
